It’s really about Us. . .
The best part of me isn’t really me at all, it’s the relationship I share with Kimberly. Together we face the challenges of life and we enjoy it’s rewards. Although much of what I have placed on this site is directly related to the things I personally enjoy, none of it would be possible (nor much fun) without Kimberly to share the experience.

However, part of what makes our relationship work so well is that we both respect the other’s interests. I guess it’s fair to say that we found each other a little later than some, but earlier than others. We got married on September 9th, 2000. Follow the links at the left and take a look at the love story from our wedding as well as some images Kimberly’s dad took on that day over on the mooja image gallery.

My Projects area lists many of the activities we both enjoy, but also focuses on things I like to do on my own. Click the Projects icon at the top of this page to go there. This is the best way to learn about the things I enjoy.

A little history

I grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis. I can remember living in our Savage, MN apartment, playing with my Big Wheel and trying to avoid the dreaded pile of tar next to the parking lot (must get a picture of that some day). Big kids said that there was a dog buried underneath that mound of asphalt and I suppose I believed it. We moved to Burnsville when I was 4-1/2 years old and I remember it clearly.

I basically grew up in Burnsville with my older brother, Rick, and eventually two sisters, Rachelle and Ryanne. I graduated from Burnsville High School and went to college at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. My parents moved to Rosemount and later, to Prior Lake. I lived with my brother in his first house in Minneapolis, then a short time in my own apartment before Kimberly and I bought our first house in the Windom neighborhood of southwest Minneapolis. A couple years later, we moved to our current house in the Summit Hill neighborhood of St. Paul.

While in college, I worked part time doing digital illustration work. After graduating with a degree in Computer Science, I worked in a small company providing network support for small businesses. After that, I worked at Ameriprise Financial, the recent spin-off company from American Express, where I started as a contractor on a second level technology support team before moving into a lead role and eventually to a business unit of the company. Working downtown Minneapolis had its perks and its challenges. I no longer work there and I have started my own business called Studio Hanson.

About the "Face-to-Face" logo:

The double-sillhouetted faces logo which also resembles a black chalice at the top of this page seems to be asymmetrical. This is intentional, as the negative space is actually the outline of our individual profiles, forming the imperfect cup. Surrounded by text, this logo served as the theme for our wedding and reception.
