TCP History

The origins of Trans Collegiate Pictures actually date back to 1985, when Eric Dela Cruz was first introduced to stop-motion Super 8mm filmmaking by a fellow St. Thomas Academy colleague, James Shiely.  By the spring of 1986, the fledgling organization Mega Conglomerate Studios had been formed and the first of the legendary Officers film series was underway.  MCS released 13 films from 1986 to 1989, and in addition to Eric and Jim Shiely, included STA regulars Andrew Varecka, Lawrence Mortenson, James Waddick, and future TCP veteran Michael Scanlon.   MCS was disbanded in July 1989 when the members of the film group graduated from high school and moved on to college.  Trans Collegiate Pictures was formed around the "survivors" of the MCS breakup. The full history of MCS will be featured on the site soon.

TCP's history can be best described as having three distinct "eras", with each one having its own unique story, but all groups were still encompassed by the Trans Collegiate Pictures umbrella.  Click the links below to learn more:
